"Ritual Front are a neo-folk band from St. Petersburg, Russia, and The Sun Of The Dead is their new EP, following their Lightnings Over Crimson Hill release of 2005 and several compilation appearances. As often seems to be the case with Russian bands, I can find information in Russian, but, frustratingly, nothing much in English. Anyway, Ritual Front is a duo consisting of singer Michael A., who also plays keyboards, melodica and tambourine, and guitarist and drummer Roric. They also feature several guest musicians, who bring in more acoustic instruments, including flute and violin, which adds to a nicely organic folk sound, without excessive reliance on keyboards to bulk out the music."
