"Mack Murphy and The Inmates were formed in October 2002. The members had all been friends long before they formed the band and were (and still are) active members of various bands and projects in Luxembourg, Germany and Austria. Mack Murphy and the Inmates were formed to create their own brand of emotional rock noir. Their music is a blend of influences by the likes of Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds, Joy Division, Tom Waits, New Model Army, The Sisters of Mercy, The Pixies.

The first album entitled “The Early Years” was recorded in August 2003, even before they had played their first real gig. After having played some gigs in Luxembourg to promote their album and present themselves to the public, they headed back to Karlsruhe, Germany to record a second album called “Summer’s Cemetery Dawns” at Tidal Wave Recording Studios run by fellow Inmate Patrick ”Patrock” Damiani, who helped the band find their own sound (and soul). Summer’s cemetery Dawns is released in December 2004. Again the band played a number of gigs in and around Luxembourg and in Octobre 2005 the band started to record a five-song-ep entitled “Distant” which is released in 2006."
