Imperium is an album by the English group Current 93. It was made during a musical style shift between the earlier industrial sound of Current 93 and the current more neofolk inspired. It was originally released as an LP in 1987 on the Maldoror label, but in 1992 it was also released as a CD on David Tibet's Durtro label. Since then it has been reissued several times as both LP and CD on Durtro. The latest issue is from 2006, and is only for sale in Russia and CIS countries.
The lyrical content of Imperium is mainly about death, as an example they make use of Dagchen Rinpoche's teaching.

[Incidental info:] The release of this CD appeased many of those who were unable to get a copy of the limited edition 2xLP: Christ And The Pale Queens Mighty In Sorrow. It also includes the two tracks from the 12": The Red Face Of God. The track "Mighty in Sorrow" is basically the same as "Night" from the 2xLP: a looped mantra that goes on forever ad nauseam.
The CD was later reissued with some new and improved artwork included.

Tracks 9-10 were originally released on a Shock 7" (Shock SX 003) and reissued with the addition of track 11 on the sampler "The Portable Altamont" (Shock SX 012). Along with track 8, these 4 songs, recorded in Tokyo, were to have been on a Japanese Current 93 album; the album was never finished. Track 12 was recorded in 1985 as part of the "Killy Kill Killy" piece that was released on the "Nightmare Culture" mini-LP.
Earth Covers Earth was originally dedicated to You-Sun; so it is still. I again thank Tony Wakeford for allowing me to adapt his song "Fields" into "Earth Covers Earth".
Included is a 16-page booklet with lyrics and photographs.

"This is a remixed, re-structured, and re-recorded version of Swastikas For Noddy, thus the before and after Iceland colours are now complete.
As Swastikas was dedicated to Diana and Steven's first child, Lilith, this is dedicated to their second. A long and joyful life to Nyida, sun and moon. "Then he stayed at Driche cave, manifesting sickness." from The Life of Milarepa.
Love to: Gunna Sigga, Asi, Runa, Anna, James Low, Harry Oldfield, Aki Okaushi, Akiko Hada, Konori and Ayame Suzuki. And also to my parents for putting up with, feeding and driving Steven, Tony and myself whilst recording this at ICR Studios with Colin Potter, to whom also due our thanks.
