Runahild of Eliwagar is deeply inspired by the northern nature. She let her spirit wander and feel the energies of everything that surrounds her. She listen to the mysterious whisper from the spirits in nature and the spirit of the ancestors. Her heathen folk melodies invite these energies to express themselves through her voice and music.
Her wish is that those energies shall reach the soul of the listener, taking him/her to a journey at the heart of nature.
From her organic farm in the norwegian mountains, she, an old soul, look at how the world has become with sorrow in her heart. Through her music, she looks for the light within the darkness, showing a path leading to a life in harmony with nature.
The flute lead you to follow the enchanting echoe from the deep forest, the melancholic hardanger fiddle brings back ancestral memories and a feeling of longing for a time when we can find inner peace and be one with nature. The electric guitar and drums wake up primal forces of the life energy, like a fire burning wild and free, or like the waves crushing against the shores in the storm.
Her new album "Heidr" (=bright one) is named after a vølve (norse shamanic seeress) in the Norse poem Voluspá. Runahild's meeting with Toril Nikolaisen Kilde has brought deep inspiration for the writing of this album. Toril gave her the feeling of coming back home to her own, a memory from the past and a strong flame to burn on the way further. Toril is a beautiful and light soul, her voice speaks and reaches the depth of the soul. Meeting her strengthened the energy of the vølve in the spirit of Runahild.
Runahild is dedicated to music with all her heart and soul. She has had the pleasure to work together with her old friend and drummer Wargnar and Roar Ruus Finsås. They have both participated to CDs and concerts. Bjørn has played guitar with her on many of her songs for the last 5 years. But she always had a deep thirst for learning new instruments and now she plays everything on most of her songs.
On the side of music, to live off the land is something important for Runahild. Nature is where we all find our roots." source
