Jäger 90 plays minimal electronics and old school ebm, drawing influences from such bands as DAF. The band has so far released five albums: Harte Zeiten (2005), Total Debil (2006), Muskeln und Küsse (2007), Drischne Skasal (2009) and Fleisch Macht Böse (2011), all presenting the same musical style of monotonic minimal hard beating electronics.
Jäger 90 is a band from Germany, Rostock. Their musical influence lies in the 80s, first and foremost in the legendary pioneers of EBM: Deutsch Amerikanische Freundschaft - whose influence can be heard throughout all four Jäger 90 albums, both musically, lyrically, and in attitude. Otherwise the band represents minimalism, nonconformity, and energy.
The band was started in 2005 by Thoralf Dietrich (vocals & program) and Stev A. (drums). Their self-released album “Harte Zeiten” during the same year, already showed a very special approach to EBM, with a strong minimalist and monotonic influence. Such songs as “Achtung Ein Jäger” from that time are still often played during concerts.
The second self-released album “Total Debil” came in 2006. The slightly dim atmosphere from “Harte Zeiten” was replaced with a somewhat different style: lighter and more catchy tracks, yet with the same prescription as before - minimalism and DAF influence. During the same year, the exclusive track “Bis Ich Nicht Mehr Kann” appeared on “Hymns of Steel” compilation from Machineries Of Joy.
German label Electric Tremor released the third album in 2007. Entitled “Muskeln und Küsse”, it brought faster and more aggressive tracks, such as the hard-beating “Stiefelblitz” and “Muskeln”, which without any exception always awaken the crowd during Jäger 90 live performances. Later that year Jäger 90 also contributed with another exclusive track “Das Kleine Spielzeugland” to a compilation album “Lieder Der Berge” from Electric Tremor.
2008 brought a series of concerts from the band, along with two more exclusive contributions to EBM and industrial music compilations: “In Der Hitze Der Nacht” in Net.Ware Responsibilities from Electro Arc, and “Meine Angst” in Advanced Electronics Vol. 7.
Early in 2009 the band announced that they are working on a new album. Many concerts followed up, with performances of some of the new songs as well. During July, Stev A. left the band and continued to concentrate on his own project D-F-O-W and contributed to EBM Stompers. He was replaced by Vigo Stahlmann.
In September came their long awaited fourth album “Drischne Skasal”. It consisted of 12 new songs, which represented styles from their previous two albums, but also a new direction which had a stronger than ever DAF influence. Some short time before the release of this album, a side project Bomb Likör! was created, but after a few recorded songs and a live performance it was canceled. Two of the songs (Zu Jung and Der Verzicht) were instead released on “Drischne Skasal”.
Many more concerts were announced after “Drischne Skasal”, and a new song “Pistole” is released on another EBM compilation in October. Another track “Wir Brauchen Kein Feuer (Flagge Zeigen)” was included in the ambitious EBM collection album released by Out Of Line in spring 2010. This compilation brought tracks from most of the legendary pioneer EBM bands (Front 242 and DAF) and newer bands that have kept this music alive for the more recent years (Spetsnaz, Pouppée Fabrikk etc.). The inclusion of Jäger 90 on this definite collection acknowledged their well-deserved spot among the leading and most unique and skilled bands in the history of EBM.
In August 2011 came the release of “Fleisch Macht Böse”.
Other side projects from Jäger 90 are Franz Riss, Stakkato, Bomb Likör!, and Microwelt.
