James Plotkin began his musical career as the guitarist for grindcore trio O.L.D., with vocalist Alan Dubin and an ever-changing menagerie of drummer/bassists. Toward the end of his lengthy existence with that act, Plotkin had already started a new career as a bold and outrageous avant garde musician who built otherworldly collages of metal-dance music such as Clinton Street/Dead Soul Surfing and A Strange Perplexing for manipulated guitar sounds, and Joy of Disease for manipulated guitar, bass, rhythm machines and samples. Plotkin also plays in Khanate.
He engaged in dynamite collaborations with the likes of K.K. Null (of Zeni Geva) and Mick Harris, doing looped guitar and natural/unnatural sounds.
He also began to coin ever-new alter egos like Jupiter Crew and Flux to name a few.
Plotkin owns the mastering studio Plotkinworks, located in Bethlehem, PA.
