Zinovia Arvanitidi was born in Athens, Greece and she is currently living in France.
From very early on she has been honing her music-composing skills by taking piano lessons at the young age of 8.
She later on continued her studies in music theory & vocal training at the “Philippos Nakas Conservatory of Athens” and obtained diplomas in Classical Harmony, Counterpoint, Fugue, Orchestration and Music Technology & Production.
After her studies she gained valuable experience for several years working with very established greek artists as session musician & vocalist, and also as a studio sound-engineer.
By 1999 Zinovia began experimenting with electronic sounds, incorporating her influences in classical, electro, ambient, dub, neo-classical, jazz, and film scores into her own sound creations. Over the next several years Zinovia‘s work has been featured in theatrical plays, films, and various other media. In 2010 she began work on her first collaborative album ‘Vanishing Mirror‘ with fellow Athens-based composer Hior Chronik under the moniker Pill-Oh, which was released by the Kitchen. Label in 2012.
Since 2012 she has released two albums. The collaborative work “Vanishing Mirror” (Kitchen Label) under the moniker Pill-oh, and “The gift of affliction”(Tympanik Audio) as a solo artist, where she incorporates her influences from classical, post-classical, ambient-electronic, jazz, and film music into her own musical creations.
Alongside her solo projects, Zinovia works as a composer for tv series and film. She has written music for theatrical plays, short films and an animated feature film, while in 2013 she began composing the soundtrack for various tv series in Russia broadcasted by major tv channels.
Zinovia is currently represented by “Oticons - film composer’s agency” among the names of Shigeru Umebayashi, Jan A.P. Kaczmarek, and many more.
Her new solo album titled « Ivory » will be released on the 29th of March 2018 via Kitchen. Label.
A work which, like its precursors, is characterised by a high sense of harmony, memorable melodic quality, elegance, melancholy and sensitivity, altogether resulting in a strongly evocative, cinematic atmosphere.
