S S S S – Autopoiesis (2015)
Quote
After the successful tape debut Administration of Fear, Autopoiesis is Samuel Savenberg’s -aka S S S S’- first vinyl release. Right at the beginning it becomes clear to the listener that this is no light fare, either. A distorted beat in tenacious intervals mercilessly shatters layered vocal samples. The term Autopoiesis is not to be understood in the vein of Luhmann’s systems theory, but refers to its biological meaning, the sheer self-preservation of life. Found footage vocal samples of despaired souls, yet also manically impelling beats bear witness to several forms of life preservation, its overcoming and struggle. Passages of seemingly claustrophobic ambience won’t give any rest to the listener, they are too urgent and erratic. Only the epilogue „Identität III“ appears almost conciliatory in its far-reaching expanse.
S S S S performs his variation of a new kind of Industrial in clubs from Milan over Berlin to Moscow. Throbbing Gristle’s, SPK’s or Haus Arafna’s audience can put their minds at rest: A new generation of uncompromising artists has been provided for.
